Donepezil raises a chemical called acetylcholine in the brain. Acetylcholine may be involved in memory, attention, and learning.

How should Donepezil be used:

Adult: PO- Initial: 5 mg day in the evening, up to 10 mg daily after 4-6 week. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.

Common side effects of Donepezil :

Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea). Headache. Not able to sleep. Not hungry. Weight loss.

Signs of low mood (depression), thoughts of killing yourself, nervousness, emotional ups and downs, thinking that is not normal, anxiety, or lack of interest in life. Trouble breathing. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhoea). Any bruising or bleeding. A big weight loss. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Donepezil with other medicines:

Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially those listed here: – painkillers such as aspirin or ibuprofen. – antifungal medicines such as ketoconazole. – quinidine (a heart medicine). – mood medicines such as fluoxetine. – TB medicine such as rifampicin. – epilepsy medicines such as phenytoin or carbamazepine. – other medicines for treatment of dementia. – herbs such as St. Johns wort and ginkgo biloba. – If you are taking some other medicines like herbal tonics and supplements without any prescription, make sure to inform your doctor about it.
